Accused Arrested for Beating Police Officer
Police arrested five individuals on 5 November for the charge of beating Thaneshwar Prakash Panta, Assistant Constable working at the District Police Office, Dadeldhura. The incident occurred while Panta was on duty at Bagbazar, Amargadhi Municipality-5. The arrested individuals are 22-year-old Rohit Sarki from Bhimdatta Municipality-4, Kanchanpur, 28-year-old Binod Baij and 26-year-old Padam Chataut from Ajaymeru Rural Municipality-4, 23-year-old Subash Bohara, and 27-year-old Jeet Aier.
Inspector Upendra Bam of the District Police Office, Dadeldhura, stated that Police Constable Panta was injured when the accused individuals hit him with a stone after he stopped their Mahindra car with Indian license plate GG 5 RV 8848 for inspection. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Dhangadhi towards Dadeldhura at Bagbazar. Inspector Bam said Constable Panta was referred to Dhangadhi from the Dadeldhura Hospital. The five accused involved in the incident have been arrested, and a seven-day extension has been granted for investigation under charges related to public safety, health, and moral offenses.
