Accused Arrested for Allegedly Smearing Black
Police arrested Suman Chemjong, Deputy Chairperson of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Dharan on February 18 for allegedly smearing black to Padam Mabo, a resident of Putali Line, Dharan-9, on February 16. The incident occurred after Mabo publicly expressed support for constructing a cable car in the Pathibhara area of Taplejung. Cemjong was arrested based on the complaint filed by Mabo at the Area Police Office, Dharan, on February 17 according to DSP Prakash Jawegu. The district court issued an arrest warrant against the accused. However, Chemjong claimed that he was not involved in smearing black but was framed while attempting to protect those doing it.
The victim mentioned that there were eight individuals involved in the incident including Bishnu Thamden, Central Deputy Secretary General of the Janamukti Party, Amar Ijam, Central Leader of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, and Gentle Lawati, a leader of the Pahichanbadi Morcha and that he had filed a complaint against them with the police.
