Educational activities at the Agriculture and Forestry University in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-16 have been halted for two weeks due to an ongoing lockdown. The university has been shut down following clashes between students from the two major ruling parties, the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. On August 29, the conflict, which took place in the men’s hostel of the Agricultural College campus, disrupted both academic and administrative activities.

Due to the lockdown, the BSc Agriculture entrance exam scheduled for September 13 has been postponed to September 25. Sahadev Chaudhary, Chief of the Examination Branch at the university, informed that the exams for the seventh, fifth, and third semesters, originally set to begin on August 30, have also been postponed. The Registrar of the University, Sharada Thapaliya, stated that lectures and examinations were halted due to the lockdown following clashes that occurred at the university two weeks ago. On August 31, the university postponed the exams for students across various semesters studying agriculture, veterinary science and medicine, forestry, and the university-affiliated colleges under that faculty due to the tense situation.

After the clash, both parties have been blaming each other. The university has formed a committee by Professor Bhuminanda Devkota to investigate the incident. The committee was formed on 31 August. Devkota stated that the deadline expired on September 10, but an additional week has been granted, and the report writing is currently in progress.
