Absconding Accused Arrested for Crime of Rape
Police arrested 36-year-old Nardesh Rai of Sakela Rural Municipality-2 Ratancha, for the charge of raping of a 14-year-old girl with intellectual disability 13 August. The minor was gang-raped by the accused on February 1, 2016, and the aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on February 3.
Subsequently, the police registered a case under gang rape and the District Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 13 years imprisonment on April 13, 2023. Inspector Benu Karki of the District Police Office stated that Rai, who had been absconding after the court verdict, was arrested when he returned home. Inspector Karki of the District Police Office stated that Nardesh has been sent to jail to serve his sentence.
The health examination of the victim was done at the District Hospital on February 3.
