236 children of the district under severe acute malnutrition

During this year, from  the mid of October  till August, 236 children out of 1305 of 27 VDCs of Humla are suffering from severe acute malnutrition according to early malnutrition unified management program of Humla District and remaining 114 children are suffering from mild malnutrition.

The data of the malnutrition management program operated at health posts of Srinagar, Darma, Saya, Chipra, Dandaphaya and District hospital shows the description. The data shows that 236 children under six months out of 1305 children have an acute severe malnutrition and 114 children have a mild malnutrition according to Dr Smriti Mahat of the program.

The Government of Nepal and Health Ministry has been operating early malnutrition unified management program in Shrenagar, Darma, Saya, Chipra, Dandaphaya health posts and District Hospital with the objective to prevent children from malnutrition.

At present, the District Health Office has been operating program in 27 VDCs of the district through health organization and women health volunteers to prevent children from suffering of malnutrition. The District Health Office said that until 2020, Humla district will be announced malnutrition free district. Despite of various program to prevent malnutrition, due to the lack of health professionals and medicine, children are still suffering from acute severe malnutrition in the district.
