Complaint Filed Against Accused of Journalist Abuse

Chandni Jha, 30, Dhanusha correspondent of Prime Television, living in Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-11, filed a complaint against Kamodh Mandal, 32, a student studying at Ramswarup Ramsagar Multipurpose (RRB) Campus, Janakpurdham, at the District Police Office, Dhanusha, on 15 March, for allegedly mistreating her on 14 March.

Journalist Jha has complained to the District Police Office Dhanusha stating while she was covering FSU elections news, Mandal verbally abused and misbehaved with her on the campus premises.

DSP Bed Prasad Gautam of District Police Office Dhanusha said that the complaint of Journalist Jha is under investigation. The incident of misbehavior against a female journalist is taken seriously.

Dhanusha Branch of the Nepal Journalist Federation has issued a press release and strongly condemned the incident of mistreatment of journalist Chandni Jha on the RRB campus while reporting.

Manika Jha, president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Dhanusha, said, “Journalism is a mirror of the society. It is difficult to present the activities in the society to the listeners, viewers, and readers through the media, and women journalists are under various risks.” In addition, he has requested the local administration to take action against the accused involved in the incident of misbehavior against female journalist Chandni Jha.
