Twenty-one Years of INSEC Online
Insec Online has entered its 21st year today . Our journey continues to advance to provide news, views, and information on the human rights situation through digital media. Insec Online was started on July 31, 2004, on the occasion of Prakash Memorial Day, the death anniversary of Mr. Prakash Kafle, the founder of the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC). INSEC Online is on an unceasing journey to present human rights news and concerns to our readers, thereby enhancing rights awareness and holding state agencies accountable.
As we mark 21 years of INSEC’s commitment to publishing news focused solely on human rights, we express our heartfelt gratitude to all our readers for their continued support. Insec Online representatives are active across all 77 districts of the country. They diligently verify and reconfirm reports of human rights violations and excesses in their respective areas, forwarding these details to the provincial offices. Our provincial offices, located in each of the seven provinces, then edit and publish the news.
INSEC Online features a diverse range of content, including news on various human rights topics, articles, expert interviews on contemporary issues, features, press releases, and fact-gathering reports. Our platform also includes regular publications such as Prachi (a quarterly human rights journal) and the Nepal Human Rights Year Book. We believe that readers interested in human rights will find a range of information conveniently available in one place on INSEC Online. Attention is given to ensuring that the topics published and to be published on INSEC Online, which portray the human rights situation, are official and fact-based. Therefore, INSEC Online prioritizes monitoring and detailing facts over breaking news. We welcome constructive suggestions and advice from our enlightened readership regarding the materials we publish, as such feedback is crucial for our ongoing improvement. Meanwhile, there have been many ups and downs in political and social movements. INSEC Online has not only witnessed these events but has also documented them thoroughly. INSEC Online has played a significant role in establishing access to human rights for citizens who are otherwise deprived of them. Overall, in its 20-year journey, INSEC Online has fulfilled its role as a responsible online platform dedicated to justice and equality.
We would like to express our best wishes to all our readers, including our representatives, Provincial, and Central team members, well-wishers, and supporters, who have supported us throughout our 21 years journey.
