Child marriage a critical issue in the District, minimal amount of complaint received

Child marriage is becoming a critical issue in the district of Myagdi according to the stakeholders speaking at the program organized by INSEC.

Chief District Office Mahesh Subedi while speaking at the human rights half yearly pre-review program organized by INSEC said that the district is facing an issue of child marriage.

He added that in a remote part of the district, child marriage is rampant and recommended that most of the marriage is operating in a religious place such as temple and local level must give attention to such places to stop marriages.

Speaking at the program, Sudarshan Kumar Shrestha , coordinator of Civil society of Myagdi said that majority of local level representative are active on settling child marriage in the district.

According t SI Chet Nath Chapagain of District Police office of Myagdi, only one complaint against child marriage is lodged in the office until now.

In the review program, INSEC district representative Amrit Baskune presented the data of the incidents of human rights violation and abuses during half year.
