Village lacking maternity services: Patients in crisis
Patients at remote parts of Umakumda Rural Municipality are facing difficulties due to the lack of maternity services in Health Post. This has threatened the life of post-natal women.
Locals are compelled to use chopper by paying high price to get treatment for post-natal women.
Gumdel of Umakunda Rural Municipality-1 is one of the remote parts of the district which is joint with Himalaya. In a raining season, there are no movement of vehicles due to the road condition.
In winter season few vehicles are operating however in the rainy season there are no vehicles operating in the area creating difficulties to the locals for treatment according to the ward chairperson Nurbu Sherpa.
In the winter season locals have to walk for almost a day to reach the district headquarter. The health service is not effectively operating in the area due to the lack of road access. Locals are compelled to use chopper to save lives of post-natal women when the condition is complicated.
An initiation to build maternity service center is underway in joint coordination with various organizations however the operation will take some time according to vice-chairman Urmila Basnet karki of the Rural Municipality.
