Victims Facing Difficulties To Get Grant (Photo Feature)
Earthquake victims are facing difficulties to get the first installment of grant provided by the government to make private shelter. They are facing trouble to get grant through headquarter centered banks.
The victims said that they have to face obstacle after grant was distributed from headquarter instead of distributing in village.
The district headquarter is about 50 km from Kumari VDC. A 96 years old elderly man Ganga Prasad Bhudbhari who also travelled to get grant, said that government should provide such service with in the village despite of giving trouble. “ I can’t send others, that is why I came myself”, he said. He added that VDC should give recommendation so that other family members can get the grant.
Victims were compelled to stand in heat to get the grant. They said that it would have been better if grant was distributed through cooperatives within the village. All victims are compelled to come to headquarter to get grant after travelling a long way.
Chief Narayan Prasad Sapkota of National Reconstruction Corporation, sub regional office said that the problem was due to lack of adequate branches in VDCs.
Untill September 15, a total of 29,123 victims have received a first installment of Rs 50,000 and 55088 have a grant agreement. In Nuwakot, 9623 have registered a complaint at District Planning Implementation Bodies.
