Victim of torture, child marriage and polygamy in a pathetic condition

Mamata Marik, 13 of Inaruwa Municipality-4 is living a post-natal pathetic life after she got married when she was only 12 years old.

On 5th May she gave a birth to a baby girl at the age of 13. Unfortunately, she do not know how to nurture her daughter and apart from that she is facing extra violence from her family in a daily basis.

She got married with Prakash Marik of Golbazar, Siraha, one year ago and at present she is having shelter at one door crisis management center based on violence situated at Inaruwa Hospital.

She was tortured by her husband and family for giving birth to a baby girl. She was even expelled from the house and receiving treatment at Inaruwa Hospital.

Her recently born baby is suffering from malnutrition and she is further suffering because of being untimely mother. She is also a victim of polygamy as she did not know that her husband was already married.

The victim and her daughter are being attempted to give shelter at Nutrition Re: Establishment Home in Chapagaun Lalitpur in coordination with one door crisis management center and District Administration Office however it was not successful according to resource person Meena Bhandari of the center.

According to Bhandary, the victim only trust her mother and she could not be taken via airplane. She added that the victim will be admitted to BPKHIS from May 15.

The doctors involved in her treatment said that she is completely ignorant on nurturing her recently born child. The child is suffering from malnutrition as she does not know about breast feeding.

The victim is suffering from heart disease and having lack of blood in her body. Health professionals said that it is hard to treat her baby.
