Update of October 28 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people have reached 162,354 after additional 1,954 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on October 28, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 121,824 have been discharged after recovery. On October 28, the rate of recovery reached 75% along with the 2,981 latest discharged after treatment. The ministry reported that 39,643 people are being treated. Out of which, 31,934 are in home isolation, 290 are being treated in ICU and 72 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 887. According to the Ministry, 8,248 number of swabs tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Province 2

According to Saptari District Representative Manohar Kumar Pokhrel, after 31 personnel including representatives and health workers of Saptakoshi Municipality were found COVID-19 infected all the services of Municipality office and ward offices except emergency services are suspended till November 3. A notice issued by the mayor Uttam Kumar Sharma on October 28 stated that the service has been suspended till November 3 and wards 10 and 11 have been completely locked and sealed.

Gandaki Province

According to Tanahu District Representative Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, Myade Rural Municipality office is closed from October 28 to October 31 due to the infection of COVID-19 in some employees of the office. According to Narayan Prasad Adhikari, Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, said some employees of rural municipality office are found COVID-19 infected and to stop spread infection office is closed. He further added, rural municipality office and seven ward offices are closed to conduct swab test by tracing the contact of all those who came in contact with the infected employees. The halted services of rural municipality and ward offices will be come to operation from November 1.
