Update of May 30 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 557,124 after additional 3,702 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on May 30, 2021. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 440,955 of the total infected have recovered, and the recovery rate has reached 79.2% along with the 6,205 latest recovered.

According to the Ministry, 10,986 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Out of the total number of tests conducted on May 30, 34% were diagnosed positive and overall there were 18.3% people diagnosed positive till now. On May 30, 436 people below the age of 19 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19.

Till now, the death toll has reached 7,272 According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 109 people died on May 30. There are 108,897 in isolation. There are more than 500 active cases in Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Rautahat, Dhanusha, Parsa, Mahottari, Bara, Saptari, Siraha, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Kaski, Nawalparasi East, Gorkha, Tanahu, Syangja, Myagdi, Dang, Rupandehi, Banke, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilbastu, Arghakhanchi, Nawalparasi West, Surkhet, Salyan, Dailekh, Dadeldhura, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Baitadi, Doti and Achham.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 75 districts have been following complete or partial prohibition till May 30, 2021, no further information have been received later.

In Province 1,

In Taplejung, it has been decided to extend the prohibitory order in Fungling Municipality till June 7. According to Chief District Officer Umesh Pandey, the prohibition order period has been extended considering the situation of covid infection. In Bhojpur, a meeting of the Covid-19 Crisis Management Committee held on May 30, extended the prohibitory order till June 8, said Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Bhandari. The District Administration Office, Bhojpur has stated that action will be taken in accordance with the law, rules and regulations in case of violation of the prohibition order.

The District Administration Office Morang has extended the prohibition till June 7. The prohibition order has been extended as per Section 6, Sub-section 3 of the Local Administration Act-2028 BS, Section 2 of the Infectious Diseases Act-2020 BS and COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance-2078 BS. In Sunsari, non-essential services from Itahari sub-metropolitan office and subordinate ward offices have been closed. Chief Administrative Officer of the Sub-Metropolitan, Surya Prasad Subedi, informed that the service has been suspended from May 31 to June 5 to control covid.

Bagmati Province

In Nuwakot, the district administration office has extended the district-wide prohibition for one week. A meeting of the District Covid Management Committee chaired by Chief District Officer Jeevan Prasad Dalal has decided to extend the prohibition till June 8.

In Gandaki Province,

In Myagdi, the prohibition order has been extended for another week. A meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari on May 30 decided to extend the ban till June 7.

In Sudur Paschim Province,

In Bajura, the Triveni Municipality has opened a nine-bed Covid-19 Temporary Hospital on May 30. The Triveni Municipality has also established a temporary covid hospital after the government of Nepal provided a special grant for the construction of a temporary covid hospital at each local level for the prevention and control of the pandemic. The hospital has one doctor, two staff nurses and a lab, said Ram Singh Rawal, chief of the municipality.

In Darchula, a meeting of the Mahakali Municipal Executive Committee held on May 30 decided to provide a grant of NRs Five Hundred Thousand. The total population of Mahakali Municipality is 24,484. Of these, 7,313 are under 18 years of age, 13,979 are between 18 to 55 years of age and 3,192 are above 55 years of age. Of them, 2,020 have been vaccinated. They have demanded vaccination for the remaining 15,151 people.
