Update of January 2 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 261,438 after additional 419 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 2, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 253,857 of the total infected have recovered. On January 2, the rate of recovery reached 97.1% along with the 750 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 5,711 people are being treated. Out of which 2,234 are in home isolation, 218 are being treated in ICU, and 36 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,870. According to the Ministry, 5,000 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Panchthar, Solukhumbu and Mugu, while Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases.

In Bagmati Province,

According to Ramechhap representative Nawaraj Pathik, non-emergency services have been suspended after one of the health worker of District Hospital Ramechhap and Primary Health Center Manthali tested positive for COVID-19. A 30-year-old male health worker working at the Health Office Ramechhap and a 21-year-old female health worker working at the Primary Health Center Manthali have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection on January 1.
