Update of January 16 Regarding COVID-19 Infection
The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 267,056 after additional 240 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 16, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 261,044 of the total infected have recovered. On January 16, the rate of recovery reached 97.8% along with the 477 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 4,058 people are being treated. Out of which 3,235 are in home isolation, 169 are being treated in ICU, and 38 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,954. According to the Ministry, 3,819 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Solukhumbu, Rukum West, Kalikot, and Mugu, while Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases.
