Update of January 1 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 261,019 after additional 423 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on January 1, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 253,107 of the total infected have recovered. On January 1, the rate of recovery reached 97% along with the 748 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 6,396 people are being treated. Out of which 2,890 are in home isolation, 234 are being treated in ICU, and 35 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,864. According to the Ministry, 5,225 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Mahottari, and Mugu, while Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases.
