Update of December 20 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 253,772 after additional 588 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 20, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 243,664 of the total infected have recovered. On December 20, the rate of recovery reached 96% along with the 1,097 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 8,320 people are being treated. Out of which 4,837 are in home isolation, 265 are being treated in ICU, and 51 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,788. According to the Ministry, 4,620 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.

In Sudur Paschim Province,

According to Bajura representative Padam Bahadur Singh, the District Administration Office has written to close the community and private schools in Martadi until further notice. Chief District Officer Krishna Gaihre informed that the District Administration Office has written to Badimalika Municipality on December 19 to close community and private schools in Ward No. 8 and 9 Martadi.
