Update of December 18 Regarding COVID-19 Infection
The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 252,474 after additional 782 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 18, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 241,392 of the total infected have recovered. On December 18, the rate of recovery reached 95.6% along with the 947 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 9,317 people are being treated. Out of which 5,834 are in home isolation, 283 are being treated in ICU, and 49 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,765. According to the Ministry, 5,706 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.
In Lumbini Province,
According to Palpa representative Yagya Murti Timilsina, the Jalpa health post in Purbakhola rural municipality-2 has been sealed for one week. According to a press release signed by Gyanuprasad Paneru, Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, all the services provided by the health post have been suspended from December 16 to 20 after six employees were diagnosed positive with COVID-19.
In Sudur Paschim Province,
According to Darchula representative Narendra Singh Karki, four schools in Marma rural municipality have been closed from December 18 to 24 due to the spread of COVID-19 at the community level. According to Marma Rural Municipal Education Branch Chief Rajendra Prasad Joshi, maintenance work of Latinath Higher Secondary School, Raskot, Tapovan Higher Secondary School, Padpada, Siddhanath Primary School, Baskot and Hatinath Primary School has been closed after an employee involved in the power line extension was diagnosed COVID-19 positive.
According to Kanchanpur representative Komal Niranjan Bhat, the Dodhara Chandani Municipality has been locked down for a week from December 18 after the COVID-19 infection started appearing in the community level.
