Update of December 14 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 249,244 after additional 821 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on December 14, 2020. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 236,573 of the total infected have recovered. On December 14, the rate of recovery reached 94.9% along with the 842 latest recovered. The ministry reported that 10,955 people are being treated. Out of which 7,340 are in home isolation, 273 are being treated in ICU, and 54 are being treated with the support of the ventilators. Till now, the death toll has reached 1,716. According to the Ministry, 5,423 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. There aren’t any active cases in Manang while Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Kaski, have more than 500 active cases.

In Sudur Paschim Priovince

According to Achham representative Shivaraj Dhungana, Ramaroshan rural municipality has been sealed for one week after COVID-19 was detected in the employees of the rural municipality. Ram Bahadur Bhandari, acting chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, informed that area has been sealed from December 14 to 19 to prevent further spread of COVID-19 infection. Mangalsen Municipality, Panchadewal Binayak Municipality, Kamal Bazar Municipality, and Bannigadhi Jayagarh Municipality are already sealed. Of the 1,471 people infected with the virus in Achham so far, four have died and there are 300 active cases.
