Update of August 9 Regarding Corona Virus Infection
On August 9, an additional 380 cases were diagnosed with which there are now 22,972 corona virus-infected people in Nepal. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 16,353 have been discharged after recovery. On August 9, 40 were discharged. At present, there are 6,296 people being treated in different hospitals nationwide. Out of the total infected, 71.2% have recovered. Till now, the death toll has reached 75. According to the Ministry, in the past 24 hours, 8,515 swabs were tested.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1,
According to the District Representative of Morang, Netra Prasad Adhikari, The provincial government has decided to run isolation centres in hotels in three districts affected by the corona virus infection in the province. A meeting of the Province 1 COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) chaired by Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai has decided to operate isolation centres in hotels and private hospitals in Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari. Chief Minister’s Press Advisor Dhruba Subedi said that it has been decided to run isolation centres in private hospitals and hotels as the number of corona infected people is increasing day by day. The CCMC meeting has decided to add 50 beds in Marwadi Sewa Samaj of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, 100 beds in Janata Campus Rangeli building, 50 beds in General Hospital of Harinagar village of Sunsari and 100 beds in Krishna Das Ashram of Barahakhshetra Municipality.
According to the District Representative of Sunsari, Jaya Krishna Yadav, two doctors working at the BP Koirala Academy of Health Sciences, Dharan, have been infected with the corona virus. According to the Academy, the coronavirus infection has been confirmed in the assistant professors of the department of nose, ear and throat and professors of biology and chemistry. Stating that the resident doctors were negligent after seeing corona in the doctors of the institute, they have stated that they will increase the monitoring among the doctors and pay special attention to sanitation.
In Province 2,
Till August 9, there have been 6,441 corona virus infected people in the province out of which 3,334 have been discharged after recovery. At present, there are 3,075 people being treated in the province. Till August 9, 32 people have died in the province.
According to the District Representative of Saptari, Manohar Kumar Pokharel, following the increased risk of COVID-19 infection in the district, the prohibitory order has been extended from August 4 to 10.
According to the District Representative of Siraha, Durga Pariyar, A 35-year-old police constable working at the Armed Police Base in Lahan Municipality-10 has been infected with corona on August 8. After the corona infection was confirmed in the Armed Police Force personnel, the police personnel working at the base camp were on self-quarantine and were preparing to start contact tracing. Internal Revenue Office Lahan’s Chief Tax Officer Kamal Bahadur Rawal said that all the services of the Global IME bank and the revenue office will be closed indefinitely from August9 until the results are obtained after the bank’s employees are confirmed to be infected with Corona.
According to the District Representative of Dhanusha, Dipendra Prasad Singh, according to Dhanusha Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Bhattarai, it has been decided to extend the prohibitory order for seven days from August 9 to 16.
According to the District Representative of Mahottari, Ajay Kumar Sah, it has been decided to extend the prohibitory order for seven days due to increase in cases of corona virus infection.
According to the District Representative of Sarlahi, Budhan Sah, Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel said that a prohibitory order has been extended from August 10 to 16 after the security committee meeting was held at the District Administration Office Sarlahi.
In Bagmati Province,
A total of 137 people have been infected with the corona virus in this province with 90 in Kathmandu, 23 in Makwanpur, eight in Sindhuli, seven in Chitwan, four in Nuwakot, two in Lalitpur, one each in Dhading, Ramechhap and Sindhupalchowk in August 9. Out of the total infected, 603 have returned home after treatment and 1,160 are being treated in different hospitals and isolation centres. Till now, 11 have lost their lives due to the infection.
In Gandaki Province,
According to the District Representative of Tanahu, Devghat, a religious place of Tanahu, will be locked up till August 23. An all-party meeting convened by the Devghat Area Development Committee on August 9 decided to be vigilant in the Devghat area as the risk of coronavirus infection increased. This lockdown will restrict as well as stop many facilities of the place. Not more than 25 people are allowed for the funeral procession and these people are not allowed to roam around pointlessly.
In Province 5,
Chief District Officer Ram Bahadur Kurumbang informed that a 70-year-old woman of Kohalpur Municipality-2, who was undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Medical College, died on August 9 due to corona infection. At the same time, the number of deaths from corona in Banke has reached three. Earlier, one person had died in Narainapur and one in Baijnath.
According to the District Representative of Nawalparasi West, the municipality has been sealed after corona infection was confirmed in an employee of Ramgram Municipality. Along with this, the total number of infected people in the district has reached 126. Of them, 119 have returned home after treatment and seven are undergoing treatment. Mayor of Ramgram Municipality Narendra Kumar Gupta said that the office of the municipality was sealed for 10 days after collecting swabs for PCR test of other employees and people’s representatives who came in contact with the infected.
In Karnali Province,
According to the District Representative of Jumla, Mandatta Rawal, a prohibitory order has been issued in Chandannath Municipality and Tila Rural Municipality-5 Dhimkot village in Khalanga district headquarters after the spread of coronavirus in the community. According to the report of Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Jumla, a prohibitory order has been issued at two local levels from 3 pm on July 9 until further notice.
A man from Chandannath Municipality-1, a woman from ward no-3 and a man from ward no-6 were diagnosed with corona. DSP Lal Bahadur Dhami said that a prohibitory order had to be issued in the municipality to prevent the spread of corona infection.
