Update of August 13 Regarding Corona Virus Infection
On August 13, an additional 525 cases were diagnosed with which there are now 24,957 corona virus-infected people in Nepal. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 16,837 have been discharged after recovery. On August 13, 109 were discharged. At present, there are 8,025 people being treated in different hospitals nationwide. Out of the total infected, 67.5% have recovered. Till now, the death toll has reached 98. According to the Ministry, in the past 24 hours, 9,859 swabs were tested.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1,
According to the District Representative of Morang, Netra Prasad Adhikari, as the number of people infected with the coronavirus is increasing, the Biratnagar Metropolitan City has extended the deadline till August 21. Earlier, the lockdown was carried out for the first time from 12 noon of July 31 to August 14. Metropolitan Chief Bhim Parajuli said that the lockdown has been added due to the increase in coronavirus infection in Biratnagar. coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 414 people in Biratnagar till July 30.
According to the District Representative of Sunsari, Jaya Krishna Yadav, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Ghopa, has issued a press release on August 12 stating that they have started treatment of corona infected patients. Dr. Nidesh Sapkota, the spokesperson of the foundation, said that those who have been confirmed with the coronavirus have been admitted to COVID-19 Hospital for treatment.
In Province 2,
In Province 2, 6,913 people have been infected with corona till August 13, while 3,417 have returned home after treatment. At present, 3,457 infected people are undergoing treatment in the province. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 39 people have died of the virus as of August 13.
According to the District Representative of Saptari, Manohar Kumar Pokharel, all the services from the court have been suspended for three days after the PCR report of an employee working in the district court came positive. According to Shrestedar Nawaraj Khadka, all the services provided by the court have been postponed till August 16.
According to the District Representative of Dhanusha, Dipendra Prasad Singh, a 72-year-old man, former mayor of Janakpurdham, has died of coronavirus while undergoing treatment. The son of the deceased said that he had been undergoing treatment at Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur for 20 days.
According to the District Representative of Rautahat, Kopila Timalsina, a local, Chhote Lal Baintha has alleged that the relief provided by the provincial government two months ago in Baudhimai municipality has not been distributed yet. Ward Chairperson Gudar Raya Yadav admitted that the relief was delayed and informed that it would be distributed immediately.
In Bagmati Province,
On August 13, 111 infected were found in Kathmandu, 43 in Makwanpur, 11 in Lalitpur, 11 in Chitwan, eight in Kavre, five in Bhaktapur, three in Ramechhap, two in Sindhuli and two each in Nuwakot and Dolakha. Now, there are 2,363 infected people in the province out of which 627 have recovered from treatment and 1719 are being treated.
According to the District Representative of Chitwan, Dipendra Adhikari, the Ratnanagar Bakulahar Hospital in Ratnanagar, Chitwan has stopped all services except emergency, dialysis and maternity after corona infection was confirmed in the doctors working at the hospital. During the test conducted on August 12, the corona infection was confirmed in the doctor working at the hospital.
Banks and financial institutions in Sauraha have been shut down on August 12 after an employee of Prabhu Bank’s Sauraha branch tested positive for the corona. Meanwhile, Madi Municipality has decided to seal off the municipal area for one week from August 15.
According to the District Representative of Kathmandu, Bimala Paudel, shops have been shut down in the Kalanki area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 saying that the number of people infected with the corona virus is increasing. A joint team of local government and police has cordoned off the area to avoid the risk of corona. According to DSP Rugam Kunwar of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, all non-essential shops, hotels and restaurants have been closed with effect from August 13. He said that the trade of vegetables and fruits in Kalanki Chowk was stopped and the shutters were closed due to overcrowding. DSP Kunwar informed that more than 25 corona infected people were found in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14.
According to the District Representative of Nuwakot, Nawadeep Shrestha, the district administration office has also increased the area of prohibition as the spread of corona infection has increased in the community level. With effect from 12 noon on August 12, the administration has issued a notice to the ward no. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 9. A prohibitory order has been issued for six days.
In Gandaki Province,
According to the District Representative of Gorkha, Hariram Uprety, a woman of Laxmi Bazaar in Gorkha Municipality-9 has been confirmed to be infected with corona. High vigilance has been adopted in the district government offices and public places after the corona infection were seen in the community level people. A meeting of the district level command post held on August 12 has decided to shut down other public services other than the essential services that are flowing from the crowded office of the district administration and landlord.
According to the District Representative of Nawalparasi, Tirtha Raj Dumre, the non-essential services in the district have been tightened till August 22. Stating that the risk of corona infection has increased at the community level, the district administration office has tightened its grip on non-essential activities. Similarly, walking in the district from 9 pm to 5 am has been banned, said Administrative Officer Ananda Bhusal. Khem Prasad Kafle, a spokesperson of the municipality, said that the municipality has decided to close all hotels, restaurants, and tourism businesses including government and non-government organizations, banks, and financial institutions till August 20 after a journalist and a bank employee contracted corona.
In Province 5,
According to the District Representative of Rupandehi, Rima BC, as the corona infection is spreading at the community level, the Butwal sub-metropolitan has decided to carry out lockdown in Butwal. A meeting of the Corona Crisis Management Committee of the sub-metropolitan on August 12 in the presence of the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Province 5, Kul Prasad KC, has decided to lock down the city from August 12 to August 21.
According to the District Representative of Rolpa, Harisara Gharti, corona infection has been seen at the community level in the district recently. Chief District Officer Narendra Rana said that the bank and the Land Revenue Office have been sealed since August 11 to reduce the risk of infection after the employees of Global IME Bank, who were shifted from Nepalgunj to Rolpa, started working at the office.
In Sudurpaschim Province,
According to the District Representative of Dadeldhura, Bhupendra Bista, the District Administration Office, Dadeldhura has stopped the distribution of vehicle passes from August 12 citing the increase in corona infection in the district. Assistant Chief District Officer Baburam Aryal said that the vehicles passing from one district to another have been stopped from August 12 until further notice.
