Update of April 9 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 279,388 after additional 288 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on April 9, 2021.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 273,735 of the total infected have recovered.

On April 9, the rate of recovery reached 98% along with the 127 latest recovered. According to the Ministry, 4,071 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Till now, the death toll has reached 3,038. There are 2,615 in isolation.

According to Kanchanpur Representative Komal Niranjan Bhat, the risk of COVID-19 infection in Nepal has increased as the number of Nepalis returning to India for wage-based labour has increased.

According to SP Birendra Bahadur Aira of Armed Police Force Nepal No. 35 Battalion Headquarters Shaileshwari, out of 700 Nepalis and 623 Indians entering Nepal through Trinagar, 223 tested positive for antigen.

Similarly, the results of antigen tests of two persons who entered Nepal through Gaddachauki have been positive. According to SP Aira of the Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 35 Battalion Headquarters, Shaileshwari, the antigen tests of the passengers are being carried out at the health desk in the border area and the number of passengers entering Nepal is around 700 to 1,000 daily.

A 45-year-old man from Bhimdatta Municipality-15, who returned from Gujarat, India on March 7, has died at the Mahakali Hospital on March 7.

According to DSP Amar Bahadur Thapa of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the management of the body was done in accordance with the criteria.
