Update of April 16 Regarding COVID-19 Infection

The number of COVID-19 infected people has reached 282,890 after additional 836 new cases were detected positive in Nepal on April 16, 2021.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 274,812 of the total infected have recovered.

On April 16 the rate of recovery reached 97.1% along with the 208 latest recovered. According to the Ministry, 5,537 swab tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

Till now, the death toll has reached 3,070. There are 5,008 in isolation.

According to Banke representative Smriti Devkota, the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality has decided to close the school from April 18 to 24 after the outbreak of COVID-19 in Banke.

He said that the meeting of the Disaster Management Committee held on April 15 decided to close all the schools in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan.

Tej Bahadur Oli, focal person of COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre, Banke, said that they have been requested to close the school as the infection of COVID-19 is increasing in the district.

He said that 183 samples were tested in Banke on April 16 and 127 people were found infected. This situation is about 70 percent.

As the number of infected people is increasing day by day in Banke, there is a shortage of beds in Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj.

A total of 16 people were infected till April 16 last year.
