Update of 9 May Regarding Corona Virus Infection
According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population; Dr Bikash Devkota, additional seven cases of corona virus has been diagnosed. These new cases are of three females and four males. The infected ones are from Udaypur, Kapilbastu and Parsa. They belong to the age group 17 to 65. Till now they are in a normal health state. With this case, there are 109 corona infected people in Nepal out of which 78 are males and 31 are females. The following is the number of infected one:

- Province 2- 31
- Bagmati Province- 7
- Gandaki Province- 2
- Province 5- 30
- Sudurpaschim- 5
Following is the number according to districts:
- Rupandehi- 6
- Banke- 24
- Chitwan- 1
- Parsa- 27
- Morang- 20
Hence, 78 are being treated and the remaining has recovered. The woman being treated at Seti Hospital tested negative after 35 days and has been discharged on 8 May. Till now 31 of them have been discharged.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1, there are 35 people have suffered from corona, out of them 14 have recovered. Twenty of them are being treated at Seti Provincial Hospital. More than 2000 swabs have been collected. Out of them six swab results are pending. The RDT has tested 7,295 people. Out of them 21 RDT results are pending. There are 1044 people living in quarantine and 1,573 living in home quarantine. The locals of Sankhuwasabhas Bhotkhola rural municipality have complain regarding not getting the relief. Mainataining the social distancing, Taplejung’s siding rural municipality has mobilized 733 people in development work.
In Province 2, there is an additional case at Chhapakaiya of Parsa district. The disease was found on a 62-year-old man. After he was shown positive, all his twenty family members and his married daughter’s eight family members were kept in contract tracing. On 8 May 272 people were sent for swab test. Till date there have been 24 people diagnosed in Chhapakaiya. Till date 3,520 swabs have been collected out of which 31 resulted positive and 1,073 are pending.
In Bagmati Province, no sawbs have been collected on 9 May. Till now 9,105 RDT has been conducted in this province out of which 20 resulted positive so far. The patient from Chitwan aged 61 who had returned from England is still resulting positive. In Dhading, 10,747 families of 13 local levels have received relief. The District Prison of Kavre has been monitored by the district representatives of INSEC. The federal government has provided kit for the PCR test to the Provincial government.
In Gandaki Province, till date 695 swabs have been tested out of which two resulted positive, 385 were negative and eight are pending. There has already been test of 6,473 RDT test. Annapurna village of Kaski has not received any relief till date. According to the Chairperson of the rural municipality, they hae been providing employment opportunity to the labour class people and paying wages to them.
In Province 5, till date 2,696 RDT have been conducted on the people living in quarantine and out of them 165 resulted negative. There has been 2,498 RDT conducted on those staying in home quarantine and 437 swabs have been collected. Out of them, 170 swabs resulted negative. The other reports are pending. The ones who resulted negative are sent for home quarantine. In Kapilbastu there are five people infected with corona virus. To control the infection in Rupandehi, a temporary isolation hospital has been established. After the cases were increased in Nepalgunj, for the prevention and control, necessary kits have been provided. Bheri Hospital has received 2000 testing kits.
In Karnali Province, the Economic Affairs Minister; Prakash Jwala has handed over the necessary RDT and VTM kits to Salyan Hospital’s Chief, Dr Arjun Budha. In the RDT test conducted at the quarantine of Kasturi Lower Secondary School of Tripura Sundari Municipality-7, one has resulted positive and his swab has been sent for test. Thulibheri Municipality has decided to seal all the entrance to control the disease from spreading until further notice. There has been lack of RDT to examine more than 900 people staying in quarantine in Humla.
In Sudur Paschim Province, the test for corona infection has resumed which was halted for three days due to lack of testing kits. According to Dr Gun Raj Awasthi, 384 testing RNA Expression kits have arrived on 8 May. There are 37 quarantines in all nine local levels of Bajura and there are 338 people staying in it. The ones who have already met the quarantine duration were supposed to be sent back only after the test but since there was lack of kit, these people were sent back home without the test.
