Update of 27 April Regarding Corona Virus Infection

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 53,534 have been tested for coronavirus. Till date 52 have been recorded for suffering from coronavirus infection. Ministry informed of not having any new case on 27 April. There are 36 being treated for the infection out of which one is in Bharatpur, 31 are in Biratnagar, three are in Birgunj and one is in Dhangadi.

Provincial Report

In Province 1, the coronavirus infected people are being treated at Koshi Hospital and all of them are in a normal healthy state. The Corona Public Security Fund of Province 1 has 288 million and 297 thousand rupees. The government has monitored Sunderharaincha Municipality’s Gothgau on 27 April to establish a Corona Specialized Hospital. Triyuga Municipality-3 Bhulke Area, Damak Municipality-3 and Barhashi Rural Municipality of Udaypur have been sealed. Illam’s Mangsebung Rural Municipality has given 5 million rupees to the Relief and Crisis Management Fund for the native living outside their village. The local level is providing social security amount door to door which was halted due to the lockdown. The farmers and traders of the province had to bear a loss of 150 million rupees since their vital production of sugarcane could not be harvested due to the lockdown.

In Province 2, the Social Development Ministry has provided health protection equipment to the journalists of the province on 27 April 2020. They were given 100 masks, 1000 gloves, and 40 litres sanitizer. The Ministry also informed that if anyone from dies while working in the field of COVID-19, their families will be compensated with Rs 5 Million. In Saptari, the local youths have stopped anyone new from entering their localities. After the lockdown, the Narayani Modern Pulses Industry was found charging higher than the allocated price hence the police has arrested its representatives from different wards.

In Bagmati Province, till 26 April 7,591 have been tested with RDT. In the test, the ones returning from abroad and the ones staying in the quarantine were given first priority. After the RDT being conducted at all 13 districts of the province, 14 were found positive. Nepal Congress Sindhupalchowk protested against the lockdown on 26 April through a demonstration at Bahrabise. Temal Rural Municipality has started door to door health checkup from 27 April. The test was conducted for those who entered Kavre from Kathmandu, recently. NHRC has established the Human Rights Monitoring Committee in Ramechhap and INSEC’s District Representative Nabaraj Ghimire has been selected as a member.

In Gandaki Province, RDT has tested 4,924 people and PCR has tested 466 people till 27 April. Pokhara Metropolitan has decided to provide free ambulance services to pregnant women. A sanitizing tunnel has been established in Baglung for the first time to control coronavirus.

In Province 5, member of the provincial assembly, Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar held a video conversation with the local level, District Coordination Committee and District Administration about the efforts made for the prevention and control of Coronavirus.

In Karnali Province, a corona specialized hospital has been established at Aathbiskot of Rukum West with 12 beds and Musikot Municipality has established an isolation building. The people of Humla have requested the DAO to rescue their civilians from Nepalgunj and Surkhet through flight which now has been agreed and from 28 April they will be rescued. There are 24 people staying in quarantine of Rukum, Jajarkot and Dolpa’s border and are having a terrible time.

In Sudur Paschim Province, the DAO of Darchula and Home Ministry has made strict provisions regarding the travel pass and only mandatory vehicles will get it. The DAO of Darchula has tried thrice to bring back the people staying in five different quarantines but has not succeeded since the Home Ministry’s instruction is pending. The social security amount halted due to the lockdown is now being provided door to door for the elderly, single woman and children below five at all seven wards of KI Singh rural municipality.
