Update of 23 April Regarding Corona Virus Infection

According to the press conference held by the Ministry of Health and Population, two infected with corona virus from Pepsi-Cola had recovered and were discharged. Likewise, a 50-year-old being treated at Seti Hospital has also been discharged. This makes it 10 recovered cases. Meanwhile, a 14-year-old of Janakpur had tested positive with the infection. Another case was a 26-year-old man from Bhojpur. There are 48 cases of corona infection in Nepal. There are 10,573 people in quarantine and 83 in isolation. According to spokesperson Dr Devkota, 9,079 PCR and 34,523 RDT have been conducted.

In Province 1, there are two more cased added in the corona infection record. There are 25 people in Udaypur and four in Biratnagar being treated for coronavirus infection. They all are being treated at the temporary corona specialized hospital.  Dr Rajan Patel, a representative, of WHO visited Province 1 to monitor the upcoming problems that can be faced by the coronavirus affected region. In province 1, 884 PCR and 3,929 RDT have been conducted. There are 30 people in isolation. Police has arrested the drug-user who has been offending the lockdown and travelling to the borders of India and kept him in quarantine.

In Province 2, a 14-year-old has been found infected with coronavirus. Till 23 April 654 swabs have been tested and 605 were tested negative. The remaining 45 reports are pending. Likewise, 4,183 RDT have been tested and nine resulted positive but their PCR resulted negative. There are 1,286 people staying in quarantine and 1,861 in home quarantine. The 11 suspects of corona are in isolation. The Social Development Ministry of Province 2 has instructed the farmers to contact the Agriculture Information Centre of their district for the sales of their crops and vegetables. World Vision International Nepal has given 125 PPE and 20 Infrared thermometers to Province 2.

In Bagmati Province, after the lockdown, more than 600 people were stuck in Kathmandu. They were taken back to Dhading in the reference of Provincial Assembly member Jagat Simkhada. The health protection equipment sent by China has entered Nepal through Tatopani Border. The equipment are worth 10 million. Due to the infection of corona virus, 11,900 locals of Dhading have returned home.

In Gandaki Province, till 22 April 4,783 RDT have been conducted. Nepal’s fifth and Baglung’s first corona virus case of a 19-year-old has reported negative in her fifth swab test. Before this, she has tested positive for four times. The Human Rights Monitoring Committee has selected the coordinator of INSEC Gandaki, Shiva Khakurel as their member.

In Province 5, the eight in the quarantine of Isma Rural Municipality have tested negative. They were released after being instructed to stay at home quarantine for a week. Till 23 April there are 1,764 quarantine beds. There are 2,415 people in quarantine in Rolpa. In Kapilbastu, out of 1,035 living in quarantine, 823 have returned back home.

In Karnali Province, the health organizations in 44 wards of Humla affected due to lockdown are now open to vaccines and basic services. The government has forgiven 152 prisoners who have less than one year of their imprisonment of Dailekh Jail. Around 600 people returning from Kathmandu and Nepalgunj on 21 and 22 April denied staying in quarantine which increases the risk of the infection.

In Sudur Paschim Province, in all nine districts of the province 8,203 RDT have been conducted out of which 8,198 reports were negative while five RDT were positive. Also, 2,636 PCR samples were collected and five of them resulted positive. Four of the infected ones were discharged from Seti Provincial Hospital after they recovered. One of the police officers of Kanchanpur District Police Office was tested positive in his RDT. His swab sample has been sent to Dhangadi Laboratory.
