Update of 22 June Regarding Corona Virus Infection
There are 9,561 coronavirus infected people in Nepal as informed by the Ministry of Health and Population. According to the spokesperson of the ministry, Dr Jageshwor Gautam, in the past 24 hours 6,198 PCR were conducted. He said, in the last 24 hours 535 new cases were diagnosed and 376 were discharged after recovery. According to the ministry, 91% of the infected are males and 9% were females and out of the 2,148 discharged, 92% are males and 8% are females. Except Rasuwa, all other districts of Nepal are infected.
Provincial Reports
In Province 2, on 22 June, 78 new cases were diagnosed with this there are 3,029 people suffering from the infection.
According to the District Representatives of Saptari, Mohan Kumar Pokharel, a 24-year-old man supposed to be brought to the isolation of Hanumannagar Kankalini municipality-1, BP Secondary School of Bhardaha had escaped on 22 June. After receiving the report of corona, he was kept alone and he escaped at night. This man had returned from India’s Chhatisgad on 4 June 2020 and his reports were shown positive on 22 June 2020.
According to the District Representatives of Rautahat, Kopila Timilsina, the people staying in the quarantine of Janajyoti Secondary School are not getting proper food and they had requested to clean the quarantine as well but it was not cleaned. One of the person staying the quarantine have complained of not having basic sanitary materials like soaps, brushes and toothpastes.
In Bagmati Province, on 22 June, eight new cases were diagnosed and with this, there are 308 people suffering from the infection in this province. On 22 June, 17 people have been recovered and discharged from Dhading Hospital. With this, 73 people have been discharged after recovery in the province. Till date four of them have died.
In Gandaki Province, on 22 June, 20 additional cases of coronavirus were diagnosed and with this there are 540 cases in the province. According to the District Representatives of Tanahu, Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, due to lack of isolation, 21 of them were kept in the quarantine of Rishing rural municipality from three days. They were found corona positive on 20 June 2020.
In Karnali Province, a 35-year-old man who had returned from the quarantine of Sharada Secondary School on 11 June, died on 21 June 2020. The man was suffering from diarrhea and died on his way to the clinic. His swab test showed corona negative.
In Sudurpaschim Province, according to the District Representatives of Bajhang, Ramesh KC, a 30-year-old man staying in the quarantine of Majakhori Secondary School had committed suicide. He had returned from India’s Banglore before three days. His swab was collected but the report has not been received yet. There are only four staying in the quarantine and all three of them had returned from India. They are kept in different rooms.
