Update of 22 April Regarding Corona Virus Infection
There are three more cases increased in Nepal. They are the men of 24, 60 and 72 years’ age. Therefore we have 45 cases of coronavirus infection out of which seven have recovered. All three newly infected ones are from Udaypur. On 21 April, 11 infected ones were found in Udaypur. The infected 38 of them are being treated in different hospitals in the country. According to Dr Devkota, PCR has examined 9,079 and RDT has tested 31,420. Likewise, there are 8,595 people staying in quarantine, nationwide and 95 are in isolation. Indian government has handed 18 varieties of medicines to the Ministry of Health and Population. These medicines are 23 ton in quantity.
Provincial Reports
In Province 1, there are 28 people suffering from corona infection. After five from the same family were infected the number has peaked. There are 24 from Udaypur and four from Biratnagar. In Udaypur, the first case was found in 13 of them living in the Noori Mosque. In Province 1, 823 samples have been collected, out of the 525 were negative and 274 are pending. The RDT has tested 3,592 people and ten resulted positive. Seventeen of them have been discharged from the quarantine. There are 34 in isolation. There are 50 RDT sent to Solukhumbu.
In Province 2, till 22 April 620 swab tests have been conducted and 602 reports are negative whereas four were tested positive. There are 14 pending reports. Till 22 April 3,877 were tested with RDT and 3,869 resulted negative. The seven with positive reports were tested negative through PCR. There are 14 in the isolation ward.
In Bagmati Province, relief is being distributed in Nuwakot, Dhading and Rasuwa. The lockdown offenders are being arrested at Chitwan, Lalitpur and Nuwakot. All the grocery stores of Netrawati rural municipality, Dhading, have been requested to keep pricelist in their shops. On 22 April, PPE has been distributed in Sindhupalchowk Health Organization. Municipalities of different districts have arranged vehicles for their citizens to return home. According to the DSP of Metropolitan Police Range Jagati, more than four thousand people were sent back home till 10 pm of 21 April. Within the lockdown, 11 prisoners were freed after the order of District Court Bhaktapur. The rescued people will go through proper health check-up before letting them enter.
In Gandaki Province, the first corona infected 19-year-old of Baglung sent a swab for retest. On 22 April, 11 Muslims from different places were examined through RDT and they resulted negative. District Police Office of Baglung has taken action against 18 people offending lockdown on 22 April. Five different places in Parbat have managed food for people stranded due to lockdown. Damauli Hospital of Tanahu has established sanitizer tunnel at their entrance.

In Province 5, a 78-year-old of Bardaghat Municipality was diagnosed with corona infection. His RDT resulted positive while his swab has been sent to Corona Test Laboratory of Bhairahawa for PCR. The provincial cabinet has decided to provide a fund to the District Crisis Management Committee to manage the upcoming risk of coronavirus. The districts in terai region will get eight hundred thousand and districts of hilly region will get five hundred thousand. Rukum East has established the Human Rights monitoring committee and INSEC’s DR Jayaman Budha Magar is selected as a member. Tulsipur Sub Metropolitan has established ‘Labour Bank’ for those who come for labour.
In Karnali Province, the food-grains stuck at the Chhayanath rural municipality-14 from a week was sent on 21 April. Human Rights monitoring committee established in Rukum West has selected INSEC’s DR Manish KC as a member. Likewise, on 22 April, Human Rights monitoring committee was established in Dolpa under the leadership of INSEC’s DR Bishnu Prasad Devkota.

In Sudur Paschim Province, after the 40-year-old man resulted negative in his third and fourth swab test, hence, he was discharged. Mangalsen Municipality has instructed not to distribute relief on their own as it can create repetition or miss out on anyone. The mayor has instructed to make it for systematic under the coordination of the local government. The nine Nepalese staying at the Mini Stadium of the Dharchula crossed the Mahakali river on Wednesday and reached Nepal. They returned in that way because the government did not pay attention towards their return.
