Update of 18 April regarding Corona Virus Infection
According to the press conference of the Ministry of Health and Population, PCR has tested the sample of 8,017 and RDT has tested 19, 454 people. There are 4,536 people in quarantine and 117 are in isolation. According to Dr Devkota, the test has been started in all 77 districts of the country. The number of corona infected has reached 31 in Nepal. On 18 April, one more case was added from Udaypur. Two of them have recovered. Around three hundred people stuck at Thankot were taken to their destination through a bus. They were taken to Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Butwal, Salyan and Surkhet.
Provincial Report
In Province 1, the Koshi Hospital has 12 patients being treated for COVID-19. Till 18 April 371 swab tests have been conducted. Out of them 12 males tested positive. There are 606 people kept in quarantine. Twenty have them have been discharged. There are 494 in home quarantine. In the entire Province, there are 690 females and 3,404 males in home quarantine. A total 1,526 RDT have been conducted till 18 April. Three of them have been tested positive. Till 18 April, 683 PPE have been distributed. The Social Development Minister has decided to harvest all the vegetables of Katahari. The District Administration has started an undeclared curfew to control people from coming out of their houses.
In Province 2, there are 551 swabs being tested out of which 512 were negative and 35 reports are pending. Before this, four reports were found positive and are kept in the isolation ward. Out of 1,822 RDT samples, 1,819 reports were negative. Three of them are positive. Two reports were found positive in RDT but PCR showed it negative. There are 1,265 people in the quarantine and 1,677 in home quarantine.
In Bagmati Province, the second infected 19-year old has been discharged. She had returned from France through Qatar Airways on 17 March. In Chitwan after the infected ones were diagnosed, their contact’s tracing has started. They had returned from England in Qatar Airways. Hetauda Sub Metropolitan has started and official portal to inform regarding the situation update of corona infection prevention and control. The portal is sited at https://hetauda.sasan.org/covid19.
In Gandaki Province, after the 65-year-old woman was tested negative while being tested for the fourth time. She was discharged. But she is still instructed to stay in home quarantine. Importing vegetables and fruits from different districts have been prohibited.
In Karnali Province, the food-grains sent by Nepal Food Management and Business Limited through the foot path were stopped at the Chhayanath municipality-14.
In Sudur Paschim Province, the Nepalese in the Indian border’s quarantine have requested the authorities to obey the Supreme Court and let them all in. in Kailali and Kanchanpur, corona specialized hospitals with bed capacity 50/50 is being built. These hospitals are being built with the budget of 10 million. The doctors sent by the cabinet will be staying in the district for one month. Achham hospital is declared corona special hospital. While the nation is facing a complete lockdown, National Human Rights Commission has formed a Human Rights Monitoring Committee. INSEC’s DR Shiva Raj Dhungana has been selected as a member of the committee.
