UDMF protests to obstruct UML’s campaign

United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), have been protesting to obstruct CPN (UML) Mechi-Mahakali national campaign. UDMF demonstrated a torch rally on the evening of the day before the campaign entered Saptari.

The torch rally started from Local temple Harinandeswor Mahadev and ended with assembly after taking rotation of Sahid Darsan Chowk. Speakers at the assembly said, they will try to stop the successful completion of UML’s campaign.

The Madhesi Morcha district coordinator Dinesh Yadav made an announcement to foil the UML’s campaign at Saptari on March 6.

The UDMF has declared to call off general strike and conduct stick rally on March 5 as a strategy to disrupt UML’s campaign. It has appealed the villagers through microphone and distribution of leaflet to prevent UML’s campaign from happening.

CPN-UML has changed the venue of mass meeting from the Raj Stadium in Rajbiraj to the Maleth VDC-based Gajendra Narayan Singh industrial area, which is three km away from Rajbiraj due to security concerns.

Chief District Officer and the security forces has been discussing and forming security strategies considering the potential clash between the two sides to disrupt the campaign in the district. Security personnel have been deployed at all the entry points of Rajbiraj, CPN-UML’s party office and in the areas where local UML leaders reside.

District Police Office SP Dibesh Lohani said, they are serious about the UML campaign and retribution of the Front. He informed that the police administration has taken all the necessary step to avoid any mishaps in the campaign.

UML standing committee member Satya Narayan Mandal said, they do not have intention to clash but warned about the counter defiance of obstruction in the mass of thousand people who will be present to welcome the two-week Mechi Mahakali National Campaign for National unity, prosperity and self-respect and to implement the constitution.
