Three Policemen Suspended In Suspicion Of Involvement In The Death Of Mahara In Police Custody
Three policemen have been suspended for their alleged involvement in the death of 19-year-old Bijay Ram Mahara of Garuda Municipality-8 Basaviti Jingadia.
Inspector Nabin Kumar Singh working at the District Police Office, Rautahat and Constables Firoz Miya Dhuniya and Munna Kumar Singh have been suspended from the District Police Office, Rautahat.
Mahara was arrested on August 15 in accusation of killing Niranjan Ram (20) by strangling him. The three have been suspended in allegation of torturing Mahara.
According to SP Rabi Raj Khadka of the District Police Office, Rautahat, three policemen working at the District Police Office, Rautahat were involved in the interrogation.
The District Police Office, Rautahat had suspended them as per the decision of the Secretariat of the Ministry of Home Affairs. They have been suspended as per Rule 115 (4) of the Police Rules 2071, until further investigation is completed, District Police Office.
Though the Home Ministry has suspended three persons working at the District Police Office, Rautahat, DSP Gyan Kumar Mahato of the Area Police Office, Garuda has been called to the Provincial Police Office. However, the Dalit community and locals have been blaming Mahato.
