Strike Called by UDMF Affected Regular Life

According to INSEC regional office, Biratnagar, the regular life of eastern region is affected by the strike called by United Democratic Madhesi Front on March 10.

According to INSEC Morang district representative, Indira Bhattarai, Biratnagar market and Rangeli is affected more by the strike. Markets, industries, factories, schools and transportations in Biratnagar were shut down due to strike. UDNF cadre stranded the vehicles and demonstrated by burning tyres at Biratnagar and in front of hotels in Rangeli.

According to INSEC Sunsari district representative, Shekhar Dhakal, Sunsari had mixed affects of strike since private and publis four wheeled vehicles were not running however few motor bikes were seen on the road. Market Itahari and Dharan were open along with Duhabi and Inaruwa. Industries, factories, schools and colleges remained close due to strike. Protestors were present in Inaruwa, Sunsari, Duhabi, Laukahi along with other places. Cadres of  Federal socialist Forum stopped transportation at Itahari chowk.

According to INSEC Siraha District representative, Durga Pariyar, the regular life of People in Siraha is affected by the strike called by UDMF on March 10.  Markets, industries, factories, schools and transportations in Lahan, Mirchaiya, Golbazaar market remained close due to strike. The travellers suffered due to lack of long and short route vehicles. UDMF cadres are demonstrating by burning tyres at Lahan. According to District Police Office, DSP Biswamani Pokharel, even though the regular life is disturbed, no unfavourable incidents have taken place.

According to INSEC Kapilvastu District representative, Nandaram Poudel, the regular life of People in Jahadi, Kapilvastu is affected as the Front cadre vandalized the bike and set it on fire. Bike heading towards Taulihawa from 4 number was arsoned Lu 6 Pa 4148 accusing of defying strike. UDMF cadres demonstrated by burning tyres at various places. Markets, industries, factories, schools and transportations in Taulihawa, Krishnanagar market, Chandrauta, Jahadi Pakadi, Maharajgunj along with various other places remained close due to strike.

The banda called by federal coalition affected Banke, Bardiya and Dang districts according to, INSEC Mid-Western Regional Office of Nepalgunj. The strike called by Madhesi Morcha on March 9 and 10 also affected the Banke, Bardiya and Dang districts.

According to INSEC Bardiya district representative, Man Bahadur Chaudhary, the regular life of the people in Bardiya district was affected by the strike. The travellers suffered due to lack of long and short route vehicles. The UDMF demonstrated in various places of the district which is why the educational institution, business house, transportation, private and government offices remained close.

INSEC Dang district representative, JN Sagar informed that the long route and short route vehicles did not run in east-west Mahendra highway while the Lamahi market remained close.

INSEC Banke district representative, Binod Pandey, informed that the private and public educational institution remained close due to strike.

Likewise, Surkhet, Pyuthan, Rolpa along with other districts of Mid-western region were not affected by Strike as informed by respective district representative of INSEC.

INSEC Mahottari district representative, Ajay Kumar Shah informed that the effect of strike in the district was very less since the market, industries, offices and educational institutions were open however the public transportation was not seen on the road.

INSEC Kaski district representative, Sangita Bhat informed that the effect of strike in Pokhara was less. The markets were partially closed however the long route and short route vehicles ran smoothly however the educational institutions were close but no any unfavorable incidents were recorded according to district Police Office, DSP Khadak Bahadur Khatri.
