Stakeholders shows concern on a threat on Human Rights Defenders

The stakeholders have showed their concern on an increasing threat on human rights defenders. They said that the threat on HRDs  are still increasing while speaking at the program on “Situation of Human Rights Defenders”  organized in a District headquarter of Bhimphedi on June 8 by INSEC and eastern Human Rights defenders council.

While speaking at the program, INSEC district representative Manohar Kumar Pokhrel of Saptari had informed about the deceleration of the council.

Human Rights activist Manjita Upadhyaya had presented the concept note on the situation of women rights defender and Komal Koirala presented the concept note on millennium development goal.

While speaking on the concept note, the speakers said that the new technologies have added further threat on human rights defenders.

The stakeholders showed concern and said that the political parties, their sister wings and activists are not being able to work freely due to the mounting threat.

The program was participated by the activists from various sector of former eastern development region.

The program was organized on the occasion of fifth establishment day of Eastern Human Rights Defenders Council.

Ina program, right activist Prem Ojha was felicitated by the chief guest Aiendra Nemwang and provincial coordinator Som Raj Thapa of INSEC with the amount of RS 11,100 and letter of felicitation.
