Shortage of Medicine in Hospital

Patients are in crisis after the oldest hospital of entire Lumbini zone, Lumbini zonal Hospital, is facing shortages in medicine.

They are facing crisis after the shortage in anti-rabies vaccine according to Superintendent Dr Bikash Devkota of Butwal.

“Due to the lack of medicine, patients bitten by dogs and cats are facing difficulties. After the shortage in medicine, the concerned department has been informed however there is shortage of medicine in center as well,” said Dr Devkota.

There are shortages of ant-rabies vaccine in District Hospital as well said one medical officer working in the hospital.

District Public Health chief, Tanka Prasad Chapagain said that epidemiology and health department of Teku sends various medicine including anti-rabies vaccines to the district in Quota system and based on that, Butwal regional medical store distributes medicine. He added that if the stock is finished, we need to demand it again from the department.

We cannot initiate until the information regarding the shortage of medicine is not informed, he said.
