SC begins hearing on petition challenging qualification of suspended chief of CIAA

The Supreme Court has begun hearing on the petition challenging qualifications of suspended Chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki on Thursday according to RSS.

A full bench of SC comprising Justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, and Anil Kumar Singh has been designated to conduct hearing on Karki’s case.

Advocate Ramesh Badel, Dr. Surendra Bhandari, Tika Ram Bhattarai, Govinda Bandi, Dr. Chandra kant Gyawali, Shambhu Thapa, Ravi Khanal, Sunil Pokharel, Bijaya Mishra argued on the behalf of writ applicant Om Prakash Aryal.

They argued that the appointment of Karki as a head of anti-graft body is not contrary to constitutional provision. Advocate Om Praksh Aryal had filed a writ petition stating it as unconstitutional.

Joint Attorney Kiran Poudel argued on behalf of Karki today. The opposition will argue on December 23 again.

Meanwhile, two person tried to smear black on the face of suspended Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki, at the Supreme Court premises while he was on his way to record his statement on a case against him. Police had taken control of the duo who tried to do so.

Along with that two youths chanted the slogan stating ‘Long live the Maoists, corrupt die, take action against the perpetrators of movement, take action against the killers’.
