Sajha Chautari Opposes the Reappointment of Released Office Bearers
Conflict Victims organization Sajha Chautari has written a letter on 1 December to draw attention of the Deputy speaker Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahamfe regarding the reappointment of office bearers in two transitional justice bodies – Truth and Reconciliation commission (TRC) and Commission of investigation on Enforced disappeared persons (CIEDP).
In the letter the conflict victims have requested her to prevent the reappointment of the same office bearers who were considered incompetent by the house of representative and relieved from their duty as they could not accomplish any work in the favor of the conflict victims within the four years of their appointment tenure.
“As both the commissions were restructured before the end of the fiscal year in March it seems that the office bearers were not able to perform their responsibility”, sajha chautari mentions in the letter. The organization has criticized the too little work done by office bearers of both the commission. They said they would play a negative role in the reappointment of the same office bearers who lacked to fulfill their duty towards the victims and by any chance should not be reappointed as it would hurt the sentiment of the conflict victims and a disgrace for the Honorable house of representative who made an amendment for it.
Chautari has requested the deputy speaker to ask for an explanation from the parliamentary Committee and recommendation committee about their role in the appointment process.
