Rape Accused Sent To Jail After 20 Years Of The Incident

Bhola Bahadur Khadka, 36, of Jarayotar in Melamchi Municipality-11 has been jailed by the District Court on August 24 after 20 years after the incident.

According to Inspector Fal Bahadur Tamang of Area Police Office, Khadka, who was accused of raping an 18-year-old married woman on March 31, 2001, was arrested by the police on the same day. The accused was released on bail on April 26, 2001 and handed over to his parents by a district court order for being a juvenile of 15-years’ age. Accused Khadka was sentenced to 1 year 5 months and 23 days imprisonment by the district court on June 5, 2002.

Accused Khadka changed his name later and took the citizenship certificate which delayed the implementation of the court’s decision, informed Rudra Prasad Dulal, chairperson of Ward-11.

According to Inspector Tamang of Area Police Office, Melamchi, the accused was arrested by the Area Police Office, Melamchi on August 24 after it was proved that he had changed his name from Bhola Bahadur Khadka to Uttam. He was handed over to the court later, informed inspector Tamang.
