Rape Accused Arrested After 27 Years

Police have arrested Ramsewak Chaudhary aka Shekpa, 48, of Triyuga Municipality-11 on October 15 on the charge of raping a 22-year-old girl.

The victim was raped on November 10, 1993, and the complaint was filed against the accused at the District Police Office on the same day.

The police had registered a case against the accused in the district court under the heading of rape.

A bench of District Court Judge Binod Prasad Sharma had sentenced him to three years imprisonment on February 20, 2002.

Raj Kumar Acharya, information officer of the district court, said that the case was adjourned by keeping the accused on the absconding list as he did not come in contact with the police or the court.

According to DSP Dev Prasad Gautam of the District Police Office, the accused was arrested from Bahunitar in Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality-1, after 27 years of the incident.

The victim was examined at the District Hospital on November 10, 1993.
