Police registered rape case
Mahottari police has intervened the gang rape case , which was attempted to be settle within the village, and registered for legal proceedings. The case of gang rape on two girls were attempted to settle with in the village by exerting pressure on victim’s family.
DSP Prakash Malla said that one of the accused has been arrested by the police and search for other three absconding accused are underway.
A 17 and 16 years old girls were gang raped by Arun Mahato Nuniya, 18 of Sonam Rural Municipality-8, 24 years old Manoj Shah Teli, 20 years old Upendra Sada and 18 years old Ojir Miya Nadaph on January 18,
According to the inspector Kedar Basnet, the case was attempted to be settled from the night within the village however it was intervened by police after getting information. The victim’s family lodged complaint next day and on February 2, police registered the complaint.
Police has initiated the investigation however, there is a possibility of pressure exertion taking advantage of their poverty by creating difficulties on investigation.
The victim’s family were summoned in the police office on February 4 however they were not present as they do not have transportation cost.
Police said that the investigation will be initiated by going to the victim’s house as gang rape is a serious offence.
