No adverts of election candidate on silent period: EC
The Election Commission has said the media are not allowed to make publicity of any political party/candidate when the silent period begins as per RSS source.
During the silent period, election campaigning is prohibited. Similarly, before the beginning of the silent period, the publicity materials of any political party around 300 meter the polling centre must be removed.
The EC mentioned in a letter it wrote to the Press Council Nepal on Tuesday. The Council is conducting the monitoring of the media contents in view of the local election.
Moreover, the election campaigning through social networking sites as Facebook, and SMS and Viber are also prohibited in this time.
The silent period covers 48 hours before the voting begins.
