NHRC urges to protect and respect Human Rights
The National Human Rights Commission has decided to conduct pre-election, election and post-election monitoring regarding the context of upcoming local level election. The team led by the officers from NHRC will be deployed for the election monitoring from this week.
“The team will be monitoring the issues such as right to assembly and right to speech and whether there has been use of children or not during political election campaign. Along with that, it will be monitoring possible human rights violation during the election, situation of voter’s education, guarantee of voting rights of all people including person with disability etc. The team will also monitor the code of conduct of the election”, the press released by the commission on April 27 states.
Human Rights monitoring and coordination committee has been established in coordination with NHRC spokesperson and member Mohana Ansari.
The commission through its press release has urged all the political parties and stakeholders to respect human rights of general public as it is the people’s right whether to support or reject political party or a person.
