NHRC Urges government to Expedite rescue and relief operation
National Human Rights Commission has sent letter to the government for the effective commencement of relief and rescue operation in flood affected areas.
The commission has expressed its grief on a loss of lives due to the flood in various parts of the nation followed by the incessant rainfall and sent letter to Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health to provide effective relief and rescue operation services according to the commission’s member and spokesperson Mohana Ansari.
She said that the commission has urged the government to avoid further risky situation and operate relief and rescue through Disaster Management Committee and District Management Committee.
Commission said that it has been constantly monitoring the situation of the flood victim and urged government to manage proper health services in affected areas. The monitoring has also found that most of the victims are still waiting for food, tent and other relief materials in Rautahat,, Bara, Parsa including Morang.
The commission has also shown its concern over the possible spreading of diseases in flood affected areas and urged government and stakeholders to expedite relief operations.
