Sudeep Pathak, member of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), said that the present major issue of immigrant worker is the protection of their human rights.
While addressing the regional conference on immigrant worker’s human rights in province number 1, he said that the human rights of immigrant worker are in crisis. Pathak added that six million Nepalese out of 20 million population are in foreign employment and their protection of Human Rights is the first concern of NHRC.
The conference was attended by police, administrative officers, human rights activists and media personnel of 13 districts under province number 1.
INSEC eastern regional coordinator and coordinator of Human Rights Network, Som Thapa said that Nepal must discuss about the covenant on the rights of immigrant worker and must approve it. He added that debate is necessary on the covenant provisions.
The conference will be held for two days and the manifesto will be issued regarding the measures that can be applied to protect the rights of immigrant workers.
