Locals and Police Stop Child Marriage
The child marriage of a 15-year-old girl to Binod Sharma Sutihar, 43, of Tirhut Rural Municipality-3 has been stopped on January 19 due to the efforts of locals and police.
Ward Chairperson Satya Narayan Yadav informed that the police arrested the girl, her 45-year-old mother, accused Binod and Rameshwar Sharma Sutihar, 67, of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-14 on January 19 on the charge of child marriage.
According to ward chairperson Yadav, the police arrested him from Rampur Malhaniya police station on the basis of information that child marriage was taking place.
According to DSP Bhubaneswar Prasad Sah, the accused were sent to the Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Service Centre at the District Police Office on the condition of not having child marriage.
According to DSP Sah, they were brought to the police office after they came to know about the child marriage.
