Local Level Election (first amendment) Bill presented
The Local Level Election (First Amendment) Bill-2074 BS was presented at today’s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament according to RSS.
Tabling the Bill, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi stressed the need for all political parties to lay emphasis on the implementation of the Constitution.
Arguing that the first amendment to the Election Bill was imperative to make the election process more free, fair and peaceful, he said there was no long list of amendment to the Bill.
On the occasion, the majority of the parliamentarians rejected the proposal put forth by Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers Peasants Party against the Bill.
Meanwhile, today’s meeting of the House had endorsed the information on withdrawing impeachment filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki. The meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of Legislature-Parliament had recommended withdrawing the impeachment motion on May 31.
Some 249 lawmakers of Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) had registered the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Karki at the parliament secretariat.
