Journalist Abused for Gathering Information; Complaint Filed Against Accused
A complaint has been filed against Sanjeev Kumar Raya, Chairperson of the Local Road Consumers’ Committee by Nabin Chaudhary, 30, of Jaleshwor, Mahottari correspondent of AP 1 Television.
The complaint was filed after the accused had taken the communication devices of the victim and deleted the video he had captured. The victim journalist lodged a complaint at the District Police Office on May 27, 2021, demanding for justice.
It is alleged that the victim was misbehaved by Raya after he took a video of Raya’s team pitching a road that was in poor condition. The road is in Pataili of Jaleshwor Municipality-5.
The road here was pitched on May 26 and the next day it had already collapsed. Therefore, the journalist had taken a photo and a video but Raya snatched his mobile phone, deleted the photo and video and also misbehaved with him.
The Mahottari branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has shown serious concern over the incident.
