An interaction program on CEDAW Commitment localization: gender main streaming in provincial planning has commenced in Pokhara from January 10. The program was jointly organized by Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC), SAATHI Nepal and Foundation for a Just Society.
While speaking in an inauguration program, provincial spokes person Netra Nath Adhikari of Gandaki province showed his commitment to include the rights in provincial law that is provisioned by the constitution of Nepal.
He added that the realization of change is possible only the constitution is practically followed along with the realization of responsibility.
Vice-provincial spokesperson Srijana Sharma said that people are not being able to realize the change due to the lack of planned work.
Speaking at the program chief secretary Laxmi Prasad Paudel of Gandaki province said that the program will give a knowledge of how planning can be formulated by putting gender in a main stream.
INSEC executive director Bijay Raj Gautam said that the main objective of the program is to discuss on how to move forward and implement the conclusive comment, in local and provincial level, received by Nepal Government during the 71th session of CEDAW.
Member Bandana Rana of CEDAW council said that a discussion of prevalent women rights, its challenges and situation will be discussed in the program.
She added that that the recommendations from CEDAW on five years planning formulated by the province an local level for bringing women into a main stream will be discussed during the program.
