Human Trafficking Accused Arrested
Police have arrested Ashish Sunuwar, 32, of Sunsari, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan-17 from Biratnagar on January 13, 2021, on charges of trafficking a 14-year-old girl to India through Jogbani.
An organization called Sanahatharu had informed the police that the accused had taken the victim to the Jogbani border after she was tempted to buy clothes.
The victim has lodged a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Rani on January 14 accusing him of trying to take away the girl living with her elder sister at Dharan Sub-metropolitan-17.
According to the victim’s statement, the accused was arrested on January 13 and a case of human trafficking was registered in the district court on January 15. Inspector Deepak Thapa of the Area Police Office Rani told the INSEC representative over the phone.
The girl was examined at Koshi Hospital on January 15.
