Human Rights Commission Draws Attention on News Published on “Kantipur Daily”

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has drawn the attention regarding the news on a topic “Violence due to the competition on Power Demonstration” published in Kantipur Daily on July 14.

The commission through the press release on July 16 said that a high level commission was formed to investigate the incident of Maleth , Saptari on April 13 along with the responsibility  of presenting the report under the NHRC act 2068, section 8 (1) in coordination of former chief justice Tahir Ali Ansari and forensic expert Dr Harihar Wasti. The team had presented the report on June 12 to acting chairperson Prakash Wasti of NHRC. The commission through its press release stated that the report has not been discussed in the meeting yet and the decision is yet to come. The commission said that publishing news prior to the decision by the commission as if the decision has not been made is serious issue and drawn a serious attention on the news published.

It further said that the investigation process of the commission is complex which can have a long term effect.The commission urges media to publish news of such serious nature in credible and responsible way.
