Govt receives report on special, protected, autonomous zones of state restructuring

The Local Level Restructuring Commission on Monday submitted its report to the government on special, protected and autonomous zones of the village municipal council and municipality according to RSS.

Chair of the Commission, Balananda Poudel, handed over the report to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Kamal Thapa in presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
The Commission had already submitted its report on number of local levels. And, the number of the local levels is also published in the Nepal Gazette on March 10.
On the occasion organized to hand over the report, Prime Minister Dahal said that the local level was crucial entity to constitutionally institutionalize the political changes.
“The local levels are getting the rights for the first time, and the new numbers of village municipal council and municipality have been implemented.
PM Dahal said that the elections of the local polls should be made successful in the slated date by sending the officials in the local level within two days.
The PM also directed the Local Development Ministry to take the report into implementation.
On the occasion, DPM Thapa claimed that Nepal’s federal, provincial and local level system was the best and progressive in South Asia.
The reports of the Commission would be implemented by forging political consensus and the local people would decide their fate on their own. Beginning of report implementation would start after the inauguration of Lalitpur Metropolitan City on Tuesday,” Thapa said.
During the programme, Commission’s Chairman Poudel said the report has suggested collecting revenue by the local levels themselves adding that problems would be created from the provision of collecting revenue by the upper level of the local levels’ activities as mentioned in the constitution.
Likewise, Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi said that support of all was needed for the report implementation according to RSS.
